The Park Sharon 12U Mustangs won the Char-Meck Spring tournament Wednesday night by taking the third and deciding game against the MSA team coached by Brian McCaw. Coach Jasmine Young's Mustangs took the opening contest against MSA last Friday night by a score of 9 - 5, sending MSA into the losers bracket. But they didn't stay there long as they were back in the Championship against the PSAA team Sunday afternoon. The MSA defense shut down the Park Sharon offense and took a 4 - 3 decision in the cold, rain-soaked Sunday game, setting up the winner-take-all match on Wednesday.
In Wednesday's game, Park Sharon jumped out to a 4 - 0 lead midway through the contest with the Mustang bats finding their mark and 'Stella' Grant pitching 3 scoreless innings . Not to be shut out for long, the strong MSA team rallied in the bottom of the fourth and made it a one-run game. But the Park Sharon bat rang to life again in the top of the fifth and sixth with extra base hits from Alyssa Crowley and Miranda Medina, and Ryan Donelson pitched two shut-down innings to seal the 8 - 3 victory.
