New for Fall 2026: Tournament Team Option
This fall, we’re introducing an exciting new Tournament Team pathway designed specifically for athletes who love softball but also participate in other fall sports. This program offers a competitive, flexible alternative to the traditional rec season — perfect for players who want high?level development without the weekly rec?league game schedule.
The Tournament Team is a competitive program built for athletes who want to continue growing their softball skills while balancing other commitments. Players will train together twice a week and compete in select weekend tournaments throughout the fall.
Eligibility: Players must not turn 11 before September 1, 2026 (tournament age rules differ from rec league rules)
Two practices per week
Competes in 4–6 tournaments during the fall (multiple games per tournament)
No rec league games — tournaments only
All tournaments within 1 hour of Charlotte
Estimated cost: $300 + uniform (billed separately once the team is formed)
Registration: Players register through the Majors program link and indicate Tournament Team interest when prompted
If a Tournament Team cannot be formed: All interested players will be placed on a rec team
This is a test & learn in the majors division and is not offered in other age divisions at this time. We will look to extend to other age divisions if the pilot season is successful.
• Who is eligible for the Tournament Team? Players who do not turn 11 before September 1, 2026, regardless of grade level.
• How do I register? Register through the Majors program link and select “Tournament Team Interest” when prompted.
• Can my child play both rec and Tournament Team? This pathway replaces rec for the fall 2026 season as the tournament schedule coincides with the rec schedule.
• How often does the team practice? 2 - 3 practices per week.
• When are tournaments held? Typically on weekends; dates will be shared once the team is formed.
• How many tournaments will the team play? Between 5 - 6 during the fall season. Each tournament consists of multiple games.
• What is the total cost? Approximately $300 plus uniform costs. Additional fees will be billed after the team is formed.
• Are uniforms included in the registration fee? No — uniforms are billed separately.
• How many players are needed to form a team? We are targeting 11 - 12 players.
• What happens if not enough players sign up? All interested players will be placed on a rec team.
• Will there be tryouts? Yes. Players interested in the Tournament Team will be asked to try out and will be evaluated based on their offense and defensive skills, attitude, coachability and effort.
• My daughter is in a different division. Will this be offered for those divisions? For Fall 2026, we are launching the Tournament Team pathway as a test?and?learn pilot within this specific age group. Our goal is to evaluate overall interest, competitive fit, scheduling feasibility for dual?sport athletes, and the developmental impact on players. Based on what we learn this fall, we will determine whether and how to expand the Tournament Team option to additional divisions in future seasons.
• How far will we travel? All tournaments will be within 1 hour of Charlotte.
• What level of competition should we expect? Families can expect a higher level of competition than what we typically see in the rec league. Tournament play brings together teams that are experienced, more consistent, and often advanced in game awareness and execution. That said, we believe our Majors division athletes are absolutely ready for this challenge. Their skill level, game experience, and commitment to development position them well to compete in this environment and continue growing through higher?level play.
• How will practices be structured? Players can expect 2–3 practices per week, depending on the tournament schedule. Practices will focus on:
Game?situation training
Offensive and defensive skill development
Pitching development
Team chemistry and communication
During weeks when the team is competing in a tournament, families should expect 2 practices to balance preparation with player rest and recovery.
